Monkeys and Bananas and a Beach Wedding!

I saw these cupcakes ( and loved them!  So when a friend asked me to come up with something individual for a thank you gift, monkey themed, I couldn't resist.

I love their cute little faces!!  And these cupcakes were D.E.L.I.C.I.O.U.S!  They were banana cupcake with brown butter buttercream.  I made a few extra for us :)

I was asked by a very dear person to me to make her wedding cake.  I was so honored to be able to contribute to her special day.  This cake fit the theme and decor perfectly!  And the brides favorite flavor is chocolate cake with peanut butter filling- yum!

elephant baby shower cookies

Cute little sugar embellished elephants for a baby shower.  Mom and Dad don't know the gender of the baby so I tried to pick gender neutral colors.

Star Wars and Giant Cupcake 4th of July Birthday

I haven't made very many cakes recently until last week.  I had two pretty big cakes to do for the same weekend.  They were so different but both equally fun!

First was a cake for an Independence Day birthday party.  The party invitation had a big cupcake on it so I decided to use that as the theme for the cake.  To continue with the 4th of July theme, I dyed the inside of the vanilla cake in alternating colors.  When cut, the slices looked like a flag.  Super cool!  Too bad I didn't get a picture.  But I learned how to do it here

The Star Wars cake was a challenge for me because I really know nothing about Star Wars.  I did some research and looked at some pictures,, but nothing really excited me.  But here is what I came up with . . .

And the family liked it so I think it was a success!  I love the bright colors against the dark background and the light sabers have to be my favorite.

firetruck cake and cute as a button cupcakes

I was asked to make a birthday cake last week that was inspired by little boys favorite book.  I believe the title of the book was fire cat.  The cat is yellow with black polka dots and lives in a fire station.  So this is my interpretation...

It was even cuter in person, simple yet colorful and a perfect match to the theme of the party.

I also recently made some delicious strawberry- filled vanilla cupcakes for a friends baby shower.  All the buttons are modeling chocolate and were also, delicious.  I can say this cake was delicous because I atended the shower and got to indulge in these little beauties!

Its been a fun month!  I have't been super busy but have enjoyed every second!

A football and weightlifting themed grooms cake

A while back I made this turkey cake as a surprise brithday present for a man whose birthday fell on Thanksgiving.

I was contact again and asked to make a grooms cake for this couples wedding.  It turns out the groom loves all things football and weightlifting, so we had to figure out how to incorporate that into a cake.  Here's what I cam up with...

I really hope it helped make their special day a little more special!  Oh and carrot cake is this grooms favorite so thats what both of these cakes were, yum!

My best friends twin baby shower

My best friend is pregnant with twins.  I have been trying my best to prepare her for the exciting world of multiples.  But I believe that all the advice and talking in the world can't prepare you for having a baby until you actually live through it.  And double that with twins!  So instead of trying to prepare her for the lack of sleep and many many diapers she will be consuming in the coming months, I decided to contribute to her shower and help make it as cute and delicious as I could.

She found a cake online that she liked ( and asked me to replicate the bubbles in her nursery colors and also to incorporate monkeys for a two little monkey themed shower.

I wanted to help out some more so I decided to make some cookies to use for party favors.  I made bottles, strollers, rattles, onesies, and of course ... monkeys!

And packaged them in a bouquet for the party!  The party was great and I can't wait to meet the twins in a couple months!

Gator grooms cake for my sis!

I can't believe I almost forgot to post the most important cake I have made.  My little sister got married in December and she asked me to make her grooms cake.  They are both UF gator Alumni and her husband is currently in medical school at UF.  So I made two little gator figurine bride and groom like them.

My sister is a teacher now so the bride gator is holding an apple.  And the boy gator is wearing a doctor coat with a stethoscope.

I didn't make the wedding cake.  It was included in her package, and I had a lot of other little things I helped her with that kept me plenty busy before the wedding.  But I thought my cake looked just as elegant sitting next to the wedding cake.  It even coordinated with the pearl borders and quilting pattern.
The beautiful bride and groom.

Recent creations

I have been a bad blogger for a while.  But I am going to make up for it with a long post with lots of my most recent creations.  I have been less busy than usual the past few months, and I have welcomed it.  I still love making cakes, but also very much enjoy the down time and more time with my family.

I made this Elmo cake for my goddaughter's birthday.  She loves Elmo.

These simple #1 cookies were made for a first birthday party.  I love the effect the sanding sugar adds.

This polka dot cake is actually an ice cream cake I made for my husbands birthday.  He requested vanilla cake with layers of vanilla ice cream and cookie dough filling.  It was delicious!

A little girl I know loves puppies and kitties.  Last years party was puppies and this years theme was kitties.  So here is a cute little kittie cake for Julie Ann.

We threw and art party for my little boys Jacob & Justin.  We had large sheets of paper with paints, artist aprons, paint pallettes, and a bounce house.  The boys love birthdays and birthday parties, and I enjoy giving them a special birthday.  So I did my best to make the dessert and decorations all match our theme.  I made cupcakes to look like splotches of paint on a pallette.

Cookies to look like little artist pallettes.

And here's the dessert table all set up with spilling paint cans and rice krispie paint brushes.

And a paint splashed cake for the little artists.

And then of course Valentines Day!  My little boys LOVE spiderman.  I found this idea for some awesome spiderman cookies.  Except for the black icing to turn all the kiddos mouths black these are pretty much the perfect valentine for a little boy who loves spiderman.  I was pretty impressed with how cute they turned out and I packaged them up in bags and and labeled them for my kids to sign.
