Hoppy Easter!!

I want to wish everyone a very Happy Easter!  I am spending my holiday at home with my family.  We are also having a small easter egg hunt with a couple friends and the boys.  So in celebration of Easter, and of course the Easter Bunny, I made some bunny bait to give to the kids.  I made something similar during Christmas, reindeer food.  I had forgotten all about it until I read this post from one of my favorite blogs. The reindeer food version was the same but instead of the M&M's I used crushed peppermint candies.  I hope the kiddos like the bunny bait and enjoy their easter egg hunt!  HAPPY EASTER!

Baptisms, Ipods and Zebras, Oh my!

Its funny how it happens.  I don't have anything to make for a while and then all of a sudden I have multiple cakes and/ or cookies in a week.  No big deal, though, as long as I budget my time and make a plan I can make happen.  I actually enjoy the breaks when I am not baking.  It allows me to spend more time with my kids and concentrate on making nutritious meals for my family.  It seems like its chicken nuggets and mac and cheese a lot when I am busy baking and decorating.

Last week I made two cakes for a very good friend.  One for her daughters baptism and one for her neices birthday.  I had the pleasure of attending the baptism and was able to enjoy the cake.  It was white cake filled with a layer of strawberry mousse and a layer of white chocolate mousse with swiss meringue buttercream.  And it was pretty delicious!

The big present for this birthday was an Ipod touch.  So I made a gumpaste Ipod for the topper.  I knew I was successful when Craig came home and said what are you doing with this Ipod.  It's always validating when someone recognizes what something is!
This cake was made for the boys preschool teachers birhday.  I was asked to match a set of super cute plates and napkins that had zebra stripes and hot pink and black polka dots.  And this is what I came up with. . .

Wedding shower cookies

I love weddings!  And I was recently asked to make some special cookies for a bridal shower.  I made an assortment of  brides and grooms, dresses and cakes.  I just loved the lavendar color.
This picture is how they looked bagged and ready to go.  I remembered to take pictures about 1/2 way through bagging, but its still pretty to see how they look nicely packaged.
I was told that these were ooh'd and aah'd at the shower.  I just love being able to make someone's party a little more special!

Happy Birthday to me!

So I am officially an adult and have turned the big 3-0!  We celebrated over the weekend with most of my good friends and family.  It was a beautiful day with plenty of sunshine.  The perfect day for a pool party.  It was so much fun and a great way to ring in the start of a new decade.

There was a big debate as to whether or not I should make my cake.  I didn't want to put a lot of time and effort into making one, but wanted the chance to experiment with new recipes and possibly new designs.  My husband and some other people thought I was crazy for wanting to make my own cake and then others said of course I should since I enjoy it.

Here's what I ended up with . . .

Since it was an adult birthday party but there were so many kids I wanted to do some sort of party favor.  So I decided to make cookie pops.  I wanted to make it fun so I made some silly mouth cookies.  They were really cute for pictures.

Here are my little munckins posing for a picture with their silly smiles!

I am so grateful to all my wonderful friends and family!  Thank you for helping me make my birthday extra special!
